White-tailed Kites in flight - California
Just a couple of photographs of the White-tailed Kites in-flight:
“1st-fall birds have boldly scaled brownish-white upperwing coverts and backs, and a rusty/cinnamon wash on the breast that is gone by winter.” - source: HawkWatch
Here is a comparison photograph of an adult kite, and its plumage, flying in with a just caught rodent.
I photographed these beautiful birds of prey on my last trip to California.
