Semipalmated Sandpiper - East Coast, USA
Semipalmated Sandpiper walking on exposed mudflats:
This photo was taken at the location described on page 27 of my Shorebirds of the Tri-state Area during Fall Migration guide. In this guide not only I’m providing detailed information on 15 locations but also information on how I’m finding these spots, how I’m deciding when and where to go for the best photographic opportunities, how I approach photography there and many more tips that can be applied at other locations. All that to help you improve your photography. Check it out - https://www.greggard.com/location-guides/shorebirds-tri-state-nj-ny-ct-photography-ebook
What I like about this particular location (page 27 of my guide) is that it offers 360 degree opportunities to photograph shorebirds. Within seconds you can photograph birds either with the sun behind you or towards the sun creating silhouettes, like the one posted few days ago: https://www.greggard.com/blog/2021/8/semipalmated-plover-eating-worm-silhouette-ct-nj-ny-shorebirds
If you are planning on visiting this location for the first time this season, send me an email as I have more information on this spot.
