Backlit Short-eared Owl flying over the grasslands - New York
Backlit photograph of a Short-eared Owl flying over the grasslands, with its wings widespread, in search for food🐭:
This season, I’ve decided to take a gamble and shoot at this popular spot for Short-eared Owls from a little bit different perspective than usual. If you purchased my guide: https://www.greggard.com/location-guides/short-eared-owls-new-york-location-guide you know that I’ve been experimenting with this kind of shots already. This season though, I’m pushing it a little bit further. Each visit is a gamble as owls not always cooperate with my ideas🙈
One thing for sure, this photograph perfectly illustrates their preferred wintering habitat🤩
Here is a vertical crop:
but I also like the panorama crop as well:
Photograph captured with a Sony A1 camera paired with a Sony 600mm f/4 GM OSS lens and 2x extender, at 1200mm, using following settings: 1/5000 s, f/8, ISO 1600
