Ruddy Turnstone preening - video - New Jersey, USA
Ruddy Turnstone, in breeding plumage, standing on the beach and cleaning its feathers:
Did you like that shuffle/shake off at the end?😁
When a bird stops at the front of my camera and starts to preen, I take it as the biggest compliment. It shows that I’ve done everything right to gain its trust and to make it feel so comfortable with my presence to the point that it can take its eyes off me and continue with its daily routine😍
In my guide: "Fall Shorebird Migration of the Tri-state Area - New Jersey, New York, Connecticut" ebook - https://www.greggard.com/location-guides/shorebirds-tri-state-nj-ny-ct-photography-ebook I share my technique, and other valuable tips, on how I’m approaching shorebirds for the best possible results. By the way, this video was recorded at the location described on page 25 of the same guide.
