Did you notice how at the end of this short clip, adult bird checks if chick is still hungry? It pretends that it is giving him food and if he reacts by opening its beak, he will be fed. Pretty neat, isn’t it?

Notice the food stash at the from the nest 🙈 These young hawks are often fed with a caught nearby rats, squirrels, chipmunks and even birds.
This video was recorded at the local Red-tailed Hawk nest in Passaic County, NJ.
