Male Cerulean Warbler - New Jersey
Adult male Cerulean Warbler extending its neck as it stands and feeds on insects:
With upcoming spring migration here is a tip for you. Be on the lookout for an “insect hatch”. Be observant for any area where birds constantly come in or come out of. If it happens to be an insect hatch, make sure to stand still without any noise. Preferably, do not talk. Just wait and observe. Very likely birds will be coming back here to feed on those bugs. On this particular day, I had 2 warblers coming to this tree every so often during 20 minute period. Barely paying any attention to me allowing for some behavioral shots.
Were you able to spot those bugs? Look for black spots on the left at the height of this warbler’s breast area.
