Semipalmated Plover feeding on sandworms along the shore - New Jersey

I usually have a very good luck with Semipalmated Plovers at this NJ beach. These small shorebirds are very cooperative if you stay still and low to the ground. Even though I was set on photographing Ruddy Turnstones, which were rather scarce for me this season, I noticed this young bird walking in my direction and constantly feeding on sandworms. This gave me an opportunity to get this frontal view of this youngster pulling a worm out of the sand. I will be sharing more photographs from this series, showing a worm, much more stretched 😜, soon.
